HuskeeOriginal cups come in two colours: charcoal and natural. 

Why just 2 colours you ask? Our end-of-life program, HuskeeLoop, is the answer. By having 2 colours, we can easily separate the end-of-life products and give them a new life!

HuskeeOriginal is made from ouour PP based resin chosen after extensive research and development and features coffee husk, a thin layer that surrounds the coffee seed or bean. 

While it may seem counter-intuitive, the primary polymer we have chosen is a plastic called polypropylene. Why plastic, you may ask? We decided on polypropylene with the following goals in mind:

1. Producing a durable product that can withstand the rigours of the café environment
2. Producing a cup whose materiality complement and highlight the innovative design features
3. Creating a material that can be recycled, reused and re-purposed at the end of its life in an environmentally friendly and efficient way.

When combined with a food contact approved component, isolated and purified from coffee husk, the relatively low energy consumption, ease of recyclability and enhanced strength/durability of polypropylene produce a product that lasts longer and therefore, significantly reduces the environmental impact in the long run. We will continue to evolve and improve our formula, looking for more biopolymers and combinations to meet and exceed these goals.

With the industry changing and the HuskeeSwap system requiring cups to be washed in commercial dishwashers hundreds of times, we are excited to have created a sustainable, practical and durable product that is a pleasure to use for our customers!

No, we do not recommend use of HuskeeSteel in a microwave due to its materiality.
