BioPak Expands Tree Planting Commitment with veritree

Forests cover 31% of our planet's land.

They're home to more than 80% of the world's plant, animal and insect species.

Since 1990, we've lost nearly 100 million hectares of them.

At BioPak, we want to help turn that around — with tree planting that's traceable, verified and tracked in real time.

That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our partnership with veritree to fund almost 60,000 verified trees over the next 18 months.

This partnership sits beside what we already do every day. It’s one more way we're living our purpose as a B Corp business — driven to preserve and protect the environment and give back to the communities we live in.

More than trees

Our partnership with veritree builds on our long-standing Give Back Fund commitment to tree planting. Since 2010, we've planted 210,630 trees — the majority through our long-standing partnership with Rainforest Rescue, with contributions through Greenfleet and Ecologi.

veritree takes this commitment one step further: providing verified tree planting and real-time, on-the-ground data via their unique tech platform — ensuring planting claims are proven and survivability is taken into account.

Because trees aren't just trees. They're the lungs of the planet — producing oxygen, storing carbon, stabilising soil, providing livelihoods and supporting the world's wildlife. Through veritree, we get to track not just the survival of our trees, but the outcome of this restoration on biodiversity, people, water and land — as well as the estimated carbon sequestration impact over our trees’ lifetime.

About veritree

veritree is a data-driven platform connecting mission-driven companies with verified nature-based solutions to restore ecosystems, strengthen communities and combat climate change. Built on tentree’s planting success, veritree’s mission is to help restore the planet by planting one billion verified trees by 2030.

Why veritree?

The climate crisis is a critical global challenge requiring bold action. Nature-based solutions can deliver up to one-third of emissions reductions needed by 2030 per the Paris Agreement, but many lack transparency and are under-invested.

veritree combats this with technology, traceability and validation for high-integrity restoration projects.

BioPak’s Impact Hub

Through veritree, we have a dedicated BioPak Impact Hub, a live dashboard tracking the real progress of our investment — from water and land impacts to workdays created and 'cars off the road’. You can even zoom in on exactly where we’ve planted!

BioPak’s Impact Hub is updated in real time. You can view our live impact statistics and learn more about sustainability at BioPak.

Our Impact Hub also includes our ‘legacy trees’ — honouring the 210,630 trees planted through Rainforest Rescue and other legacy partners before we joined veritree.

Where will BioPak be planting trees?

After reviewing veritree's global portfolio, two projects stood out for their combination of environmental impact and social value.

Nicola Watershed - British Columbia

An area in British Columbia that has suffered extensive wildfire damage, affecting over 25,000 hectares of forests and destabilising river ecosystems.

Project goals:

  • Rebuild forest structure, restore soil stability and help ecosystems recover their long-term function and biodiversity.

  • Partnering with local First Nations, it integrates Indigenous knowledge to rebuild biodiversity, sequester carbon and safeguard cultural traditions.

  • Restored forests will also help extend the spring snowpack, enhancing long-term water resilience.

East African Mangroves – Tanzania

Mangroves are among the most carbon-dense ecosystems on earth. In recent decades, these coastal areas have been overexploited and over-harvested — leading to the loss of critical habitats and threatening the livelihoods of communities.

Project goals:

  • Protect and restore vital coastal mangrove forests, supporting marine biodiversity and the communities that depend on healthy coastlines.

  • Empower the impoverished coastal community. Restoring mangrove estuaries will provide fishing grounds for local people, creating additional income streams.

  • Stabilise the coastlines to protect the land and communities during tropical storms.

Part of something bigger

This partnership sits beside what we already do every day. Here at BioPak, we've always believed that making sustainable packaging means looking beyond the product — at the systems, supply chains and broader environmental impact behind every decision we make.

veritree forms part of BioPak’s Give Back Fund, where we donate 5% of profits to drive real social and environmental change. Focusing on two pillars, Trees and Meals, we partner with Rainforest Rescue and veritree to restore forests and ecosystems, and OzHarvest to redirect surplus food to people who need it most.

Since 2012, BioPak has contributed more than $5 million to charities and causes around the world — and on track to reach $6 million by the end of 2026.

It also sits alongside our broader product commitment, too — 95% of our products are made from renewable materials and 74% of our portfolio is FSCTM certified.

With veritreewe’re furthering our commitment to people and planet by funding almost 60,000 verified trees (and following their survival) over the next 18 months.
